Your hosts Jenny & Brian Ness assure you of a warm welcome and comfortable stress-free
stay whether for business or pleasure in our centrally situated guest house.
The Alness is a leisurely 15minutes walk from Waverley train station and Princes street,
then a further 5minutes from Edinburgh Castle the heart of the capital city.
Built in the 1860's this magnificent refurbished Victorian town house has retained many of her
original elegant features, including the rooms ornate plaster cornicing and the impressive
"Robert Adams" staircase.The Alness has been owned by the Ness family since the late
1920's and was begun as a family run guest house by Grace Ness in 1968.
Jenny & Brian Ness took over the helm as owners in 1989 and count on many returning
guests as friends.
The Alness has 6 guest bedrooms all with T.V, hospitality tray and front door/room key.
There are 2 rooms with private/ en-suite facilities and a further 4 rooms with 2 shared
facilities between them. Full Scottish cooked breakfast and buffet is served in our spacious
bright dining room and is all inclusive. Pilrig has free on-street parking with unrestricted
space to leave your car safely overnight.
